  POLICIES & CONDITIONS

  Occupancy:
The maximum number of persons allowed in the home is designated in your rental agreement. Children are counted in total occupancy unless they are under the age of three. Occupancy represents the total number of people allowed to occupy the property inside or outside, daytime or nighttime. Any party exceeding this number will be evicted immediately without a refund.

Family Groups Welcome:
Our home is limited to family groups only. No sororities, fraternities or non-chaperoned groups are allowed. You must be 24 years of age to obtain a rental agreement. Should a group misrepresent themselves, they will be evicted immediately without a refund.

Check-In Procedure:
In summer, the check-in day is Saturday. The check-in time is 4 p.m. year round and is noted in your rental lease. With the size and complexity of our home, our housekeeper needs every minute of the 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. window to ensure the cleanliness of your vacation home. Please do not interfere with their work or pressure them to allow you entry before 4 p.m. It's a big job and everyone does their best to get you into a clean and inviting home. For your own security, do not enter the home or use hot tub until you have received the keys. Do not plan on buying groceries before check-in. We cannot let you check in early nor can we provide refrigeration facilities.

You will be given two sets of door keys (and a hot tub key). Keys will not be given to anyone under 24 years of age.

Check-Out Procedure:
Please check out according to the time listed on your rental agreement so the property can be prepared for the next guest. If you have any questions regarding your checkout time or procedure, do not hesitate to call.

Please make sure the following items are completed prior to leaving the property
(a complete list is posted in the home as well as your rental agreement):

The wooden garbage bins and trash cans should remain by the street at all times. Trash should be bagged and placed in the trash cans in these animal-proof bins.

  • Wipe out refrigerator and empty the cupboards of all items you brought to the house.
  • Wash and properly put away dishes.
  • Gather all of your personal items. We will not be responsible for any items left in the home. Items returned will include a $25 fee plus postage. Lost and found items unclaimed after thirty days are donated to a local charity.
  • Leave furniture arranged as you found them. A minimum of $25 will be deducted from the security deposit if the cleaning people need to take time to move furniture.
  • In cold weather, please leave the thermostats turned on, leave the hot tub locked and turned down to 80 degrees, leave hot ashes in the fireplace and close doors to fireplace.
  • Please do a final walk through to check that doors, windows, and skylights are closed and locked and that all lights are turned off.
Please pay special attention to outside flood lights.
Accommodations:
Our lake home is a significant investment and is maintained accordingly, however, just like your own home, occasionally there are unexpected malfunctions or breakdowns.

The essence of your vacation is to enjoy yourself, so we will make every effort to remedy any "displeasing" situations and correct any problems you may experience in a timely manner. We do not live at the lake however and are dependent on the availability of local repair people to correct any problem.  You can expect a courteous and sincere attempt to remedy these situations; however, refunds will not be issued due to malfunctioning equipment or other guest dissatisfaction.

What is Provided:
Blankets, pillows, kitchen towels and beach towels are provided.

Our home is well equipped and includes, among other things, a gas stove, microwave, drip coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, utensils, and glassware.

Air conditioning, hot tub, TV's, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and the like are furnished as a courtesy and are not guaranteed. Refunds will not be given due to breakdown.

Paper products and trash bags are provided.

What You Need to Bring:
Sheets, pillowcases and bath towels. These can be rented for a $50 charge.

Bath toiletries, suntan lotion, water shoes.

Winter Reservations:
Garrett County has a significant amount of snowfall from November through March. You must be prepared with four wheel drive, snow tires, and/or chains.

Firewood is provided.  Please leave hot ashes in the fireplace upon departure. Outdoor barbecue grills are not guaranteed for any reservations from November through March due to severe winter conditions.

Lakefront:
Deep Creek Lake is surrounded by a buffer zone which is protected by the Department of Natural Resources. The DNR regulates the cutting of trees, the construction of permanent structures and the general use of this buffer zone. These regulations protect the integrity of our lake and ensure that the natural beauty of the shoreline will continue.  The DNR requires that homes be located behind the buffer zone.  The distance between the water and the house is about 150 feet.  This area is mostly lawn containing about two dozen trees.  You have a nice view of the lake from the house, most of the branches and leaves are 20 feet or more above ground.  You do not cross a road to get to the lake and the dock is private.

The lake bottom in front of our house is rocky, although they tend to be smooth and flat, but water shoes are a plus if you want to wade in.  We typically swim off the dock and leave the lake via the dock.

Dock:
The Department of Natural Resources requires all dock to be removed from the water by December 1st.  We generally have the dock removed in October. We have the dock put back in by May 1st.

The dock accommodates up to 2 boats but if you plan on renting or bringing a boat, we will need to know in advance in case we need to have our pontoon boat moved.

We have a lift for a Jetski lift that can be made available with enough notice to store our Jetski.

Boating Regulations:
There are several regulations regarding boating and personal watercraft usage on Deep Creek Lake. For example, a vessel may not exceed 26 feet in length, except pontoon boats, which may not exceed 30 feet. Please call the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, or the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for a list of specific regulations.

Hot Tub:
A hot tub technician will stop by the home periodically to check the hot tub and make any necessary adjustments.

If there are any problems with the hot tub including any mechanical, electrical or chemical problem, please call us immediately.

Children need to be supervised at all times while in the hot tub.  The tub should always be locked when not in use when children are in residence.

Adults that have been drinking should not be left alone in the hot tub.
